Health CS flags off Medical Supplies ahead of SHA
In readiness of Social Health Authority rollout, Cabinet Secretary for Health, Dr. Deborah Barasa flagged off assorted medical supplies to various counties.
Accompanied by PS Health Harry Kimutai, Director General Dr. Patrick Amoth, Chair KEMSA Board Samuel Tunai and CEO Dr. Waqo Ejersa, she recognized the vital role played by KEMSA in supporting the President's UHC agenda.
The CS reiterated that the government's focus is not just on providing health services but ensuring that they are accessible, quality and affordable so that no Kenyan is left behind.
"Through the distribution of health products and technologies to counties across the country, we are taking decisive steps to expand healthcare access to every Kenyan," said the CS while flagging off. medical supplies at the KEMSA National Supply Centre Embakasi.
"This initiative exemplifies our dedication to delivering on the Bottom -Up-Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), which prioritizes uplifting the vulnerable and marginalized groups, especially in the health sector."
KEMSA Board Chair reiterated the Authority's commitment to UHC by ensuring that every Kenyan, regardless of where they live, has access to essential medical supplies.
Tunai affirmed that KEMSA remains at the forefront of ensuring availability of high quality medical supplies to the last mile.
He confirmed that KEMSA has adequate medical stocks to guarantee commodity security, a key pillar in the implementation of SHA.
The chair called upon counties to clear outstanding debts owed to KEMSA to improve its' cash flow which will enable re-stocking of essential medical supplies.
Through the distribution healthcare for all Kenyans.
The CEO said the management will continue to strengthen the supply chain and ensure accountability at every level.
