Today, CS - Health, Dr. Deborah Barasa, alongside PS - Public Health, Mary Muthoni, Head of NASCOP, Dr. Andrew Mulwa, KEMSA CEO, Dr. Waqo Ejersa and MEDS CEO, Dr. Wycliffe Nandama, flagged off HIV, TB, and malaria commodities.
This initiative, led by MoH in partnership with KEMSA and key development partners, underscores the government’s unwavering commitment to safeguard the health of persons living with HIV.
KEMSA has sub contracted MEDs as its logistics partner in last mile distribution of this critical consignment comprising of Antiretroviral drugs (ARVs). This is targeted to reach over a million patients, ensuring continuous treatment and bringing the country closer to achieving the UNAIDS 95-95-95 targets.
Through collaborations with organizations such as PEPFAR and USAID, the government continues to secure life-saving medical supplies for millions of citizens across the country.
With Kenya recording over 140,000 TB cases and 3.5 million malaria cases reported annually the dispatched commodities will aid in reducing drug resistance and improving treatment outcomes.
The supplies will be prioritized for high-burden regions such as Western Kenya, the Lake Region, and the Coastal areas, reinforcing the government’s strategy to lower mortality and transmission rates.
KEMSA’s advanced logistics management system plays a vital role in ensuring these critical commodities reach the last mile, strengthening Kenya’s healthcare infrastructure.
