29/04/2025

It was a vibrant afternoon at the Embakasi National Supply Chain Centre as KEMSA’s Commercial Directorate welcomed a delegation from Kilifi County. The visit marked a significant step in KEMSA’s ongoing efforts to foster strategic partnerships with county governments.

Led by Director of Commercial Services Eliud Muriithi, discussions focused on the critical role of timely debt management in enabling KEMSA to maintain steady stock levels. Kilifi County reaffirmed its commitment to financial responsibility by pledging to clear an outstanding debt of Ksh. 110 million by the close of the current financial year.

In a further show of commitment, the County confirmed an immediate order worth Ksh. 50 million to bolster its current medical stock levels. Looking ahead, Kilifi County has allocated Ksh. 850 million for the procurement of medical supplies in the FY 2025/2026 budget, with an additional provision for settling any pending bills.

These commitments align with the County’s broader objective of advancing Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and ensuring continuity of care across its communities.

The County leadership expressed appreciation for KEMSA’s continued dedication to delivering affordable, quality medical commodities and acknowledged the Authority’s vital role in ensuring timely and reliable access to essential health supplies across all service levels.

KEMSA, in turn, assured the County of its unwavering support and commitment to uninterrupted supply of medical commodities under the Sustainable Health Agenda (SHA). The Authority remains steadfast in its mission to serve as a trusted supply chain partner, supporting county governments through efficient and transparent health commodity management—from procurement to last-mile delivery.
