KEMSA, County Pharmacists Unite to Boost Health Commodity Security

11/6/2025

In a bold step towards reinforcing its commitment to delivering quality, affordable Health Products and Technologies (HPTs) that save and transform lives, the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) today advanced its customer-centered agenda through a high-level engagement led by CEO, Dr. Waqo Ejersa.

Dr. Ejersa met with Dr. Claver Kimathi, Chair of the County Pharmacist Forum, in a strategic consultative session held ahead of the upcoming County Pharmacist Forum. The dialogue focused on aligning KEMSA’s product portfolio with the Kenya Essential Medicines List (KEML) and refining product categorisation to better meet the evolving healthcare needs of Kenyans.

This critical engagement underscores KEMSA’s ongoing efforts to work hand-in-hand with county pharmacists to guarantee the availability, affordability, and right mix of health commodities across all 47 counties. By aligning supply with actual county-level demand, KEMSA aims to fortify health commodity security and ensure no Kenyan is left behind in accessing life-saving health solutions.

“Customer feedback is central to our transformation agenda. This engagement is not just about supply — it's about saving lives through smarter, more responsive healthcare logistics,” noted Dr. Ejersa.

With a shared vision for a healthier nation, KEMSA continues to push boundaries to ensure every health facility is stocked right, at the right time — transforming healthcare delivery, one county at a time.
