Closing the Gap in Reproductive Health: UK Aid Boosts Kenya’s Family Planning Efforts

This morning, KEMSA hosted the official handover and flag-off of UK-Aid-supported family planning commodities, presided over by PS for Medical Services, Dr. Ouma Oluga.
He acknowledged the pressing significant shortfall in commodity financing - a call to action in strengthening Kenya’s reproductive health systems. He thanked the UK government for the assistance valued at £1,000,000 noting that this was the second delivery within the last six months.
Representing the UK High Commissioner, Ms. Eduarda Mendoca( Deputy Development Director and Head of Sustainable Development Team) , emphasized the urgent need to empower women and girls to make informed reproductive health decisions and the need to strengthen domestic resource mobilization in the face of declining donor resources .
The event reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to accessible, equitable family planning services nationwide.
Present were Mr. John Kabuchi (Ag. Director, Medical Commodities Programme) representing the KEMSA CEO, Dr. Waqo Ejersa, UNFPA Country Representative Mr. Anders Thomsen , MOH Officials and KEMSA Management .
