24/10/2025
Strengthening transparency from the source, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), through its Last Mile Assurance Unit, has begun a nationwide stock verification exercise at the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) National Supply Chain Centre in Embakasi, marking the start of a 12-day assessment across Kenya.
At Embakasi, the UNFPA and KEMSA teams met to discuss the assessment framework and execution plan, beginning the process of verifying stock levels, reviewing storage conditions, assessing record-keeping accuracy, and identifying best practices to strengthen supply chain performance.
The two-day review at KEMSA focuses on ensuring that stock management and documentation align with UNFPA’s global supply chain standards while reinforcing efficiency, accountability, and collaboration.
Following Embakasi, the assessment team will proceed to Nakuru and Bungoma counties, where 16 health facilities have been identified for further review.
The exercise aims to enhance supply chain visibility, transparency, and performance, ensuring that UNFPA programme commodities are effectively managed and delivered to strengthen reproductive health services across the country.
