KEMSA Chief Executive Officer Dr. Waqo Ejersa has reaffirmed the Authority’s appreciation for the sustained support of the World Bank in strengthening Kenya’s health commodity security systems, underscoring a shared commitment to sustainability, efficiency, and long-term health system resilience.

Speaking during a high-level engagement at the National Supply Chain Centre in Embakasi with a World Bank delegation led by Dr. Irene Matingi, Dr. Ejersa said KEMSA was pleased to host the team and exchange insights on advancing health commodity security and strengthening supply chain performance.

“We are very pleased to host you and to share knowledge on health commodity security. We value the World Bank for the significant support provided to KEMSA systems, particularly in strengthening sustainability,” he said, noting that the Building Resilient and Responsive Health Systems (BREHS) project is a five-year programme aimed at delivering long-term, system-wide improvements.

The visit formed part of a regional knowledge exchange workshop bringing together participants from Ministries of Health and Finance from 13 countries to share experiences and best practices in strengthening health systems across the region.

Dr. Ejersa emphasized that the engagement reflects a deepening partnership focused on improving efficiency, accountability and resilience within Kenya’s health supply chain.

Discussions centered on ongoing reforms at Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA), its digital transformation agenda, and World Bank-supported initiatives aimed at enhancing emergency preparedness, strengthening commodity security and improving health service delivery across the region.
