KEMSA Flags Off Medical Supplies for Kajiado Health Facilities

KEMSA Commercial Director Eliud Muriithi, representing CEO Dr. Waqo Ejersa, today joined Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole Lenku in flagging off a consignment of essential medicines and health products worth about KSh 50 million destined for health facilities across the county.

The supplies will be distributed to 129 health facilities across Kajiado County's five sub-counties, including 7 hospitals, 26 health centres and 96 dispensaries ensuring continued access to quality healthcare services for the county's estimated 1.3 million residents.

Speaking during the event, Muriithi commended the county leadership for its dedication to improving healthcare delivery.

"Inside these trucks are over 10 tonnes of medical supplies that will strengthen healthcare services across Kajiado.

"Through UHC, every woman and every child should have access to the medicines they need when they need them," he said.

The Governor acknowledged the critical role played by KEMSA in strengthening healthcare service delivery through its efficient last-mile distribution model, which ensures medicines reach health facilities directly and on time.

"I commend KEMSA for its unwavering support and dedication to ensuring that medicines and health commodities reach our health facilities without interruption. This partnership has greatly enhanced access to quality healthcare services for our people and strengthened our journey towards Universal Health Coverage," said Governor Ole Lenku.

He also praised the strong collaboration between Kajiado County and KEMSA, emphasizing that prudent financial management and timely settlement of obligations have enabled the county to maintain a reliable supply of essential medicines.

Muriithi further lauded the county's financial discipline, noting that Kajiado has consistently met its obligations to KEMSA.

"This year alone, Kajiado has received medical supplies worth about KSh 200 million. The county currently owes KEMSA nothing, enabling us to meet supplier obligations and maintain a steady supply of essential medicines without stock-outs," he added.

KEMSA's last-mile distribution model ensures medicines reach health facilities directly, allowing healthcare workers to focus on patient care while the agency manages the logistics of delivering critical health commodities throughout the county.

The latest consignment is expected to strengthen healthcare services across Kajiado and advance the county's efforts towards achieving Universal Health Coverage for all residents.
