KEMSA CULTURE TRANSFORMATION
07/09/2026
Today, KEMSA Management stepped away from the day-to-day engagements to confront a fundamental question at the heart of our culture transformation:
What must change in how we lead, work and collaborate to become the KEMSA we aspire to be?
On behalf of the CEO, Dr. Waqo Ejersa, Commercial Director Eliud Muriithi underscored that becoming a stronger KEMSA is not simply about changing systems, processes or structures. It is about transforming the way we think, lead, communicate, collaborate and take ownership.
Facilitating the session, Damaris Ndungwa from Blue Concepts Africa highlighted the shifts KEMSA requires; from accountability as a demand to accountability as a leadership norm; from passive or resistant responses to change to confidence and change readiness; from perceived inconsistency to fairness and consistency; from concerns around recognition to visible appreciation of contribution and performance; from information gaps to transparency and open communication;
These are more than statements on a culture framework. They represent the behaviours, leadership practices and everyday choices that will determine whether the desired culture becomes a lived reality.
By the end of the session, a compelling picture of the future emerged: a KEMSA where purpose is clear, leadership is trusted, communication is open, systems are fair, teams collaborate, contribution is recognised, change is embraced and all staff remain connected to the mandate and the stakeholders we serve.
The message was clear: culture transformation begins with leadership. It is not simply what we say we value, but what people experience in our decisions, our interactions and our actions. The culture we want to build must first be seen in the behaviour of those who lead it.
