KEMSA is putting risk on the front foot.

23/9/2026

Today, Management joined Risk Champions at the ongoing Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) workshop to identify threats that could hit hardest, agree on mitigation measures and redirect resources towards risks requiring urgent action.

The message is simple: don’t wait for disruption. Spot it. Own it. Act on it.

For KEMSA, early action can mean the difference between a risk contained and a disruption felt across the health products supply chain. The exercise is sharpening the organisation’s ability to anticipate threats, strengthen controls and protect the uninterrupted flow of essential health products to health facilities and the people they serve.

Opening the workshop on behalf of Chief Executive Officer Dr. Waqo Ejersa, Director, Corporate Services, Ms. Elba Mohamed, emphasised that effective risk management demands accountability at every level, from identifying risks early to owning mitigation actions and ensuring controls remain effective.

The five-day workshop is equipping Management and Risk Champions with practical tools to assess emerging threats, strengthen risk registers, monitor Key Risk Indicators and drive mitigation actions through to closure.

The workshop also addresses gaps identified through the ERM Capability and Maturity Assessment and aligns risk management with the KEMSA Strategic Plan 2025–2030, strengthening risk governance and supporting sharper decision-making.

The bigger shift is from risk awareness to risk ownership.

At KEMSA, risks are not simply items to be recorded. They are challenges to be confronted, prioritised and managed before they become disruptions.

Because in the health supply chain, staying ahead of risk means keeping essential products moving, protecting continuity of care and ensuring every link holds when it matters most.
